Karnataka has renewed its push for the Mekedatu project following a Supreme Court decision dismissing Tamil Nadu's plea. The apex court dismissed Tamil Nadu's miscellaneous applications and review petition regarding the project, ruling that the Cauvery Water Management Authority and the Central Water Commission are the appropriate bodies to decide on its permissibility.
Karnataka has requested the Union government's intervention to ensure expeditious clearance for the project. The water dispute remains a major sticking point between the neighbouring states.
