Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar inaugurated BT road constructed from Kopperapadu to Jammalamadaka via Kothuru and Velamavaripalem at a cost of ₹6 crore in Addanki mandal in Prakasam district on Thursday. The road project, which was announced during the election campaign, has now been completed and is open to the public. During his visit to Addanki constituency, the Minister also inaugurated CC roads and side drainage canals constructed in Kothuru village at a cost of ₹40 lakh.
Earlier, he launched the PM Surya Ghar scheme in Jammalamadaka and Kotha Jammalamadaka SC colonies under Velamavaripalem panchayat in Ballikurava mandal. Addressing the gathering, he said nearly 200 beneficiaries in three villages have already been provided with free rooftop solar units under the scheme. He said that the positive response from beneficiaries encouraged many more households to apply for rooftop solar installations. The government is committed to providing solar units to every eligible beneficiary, he added.
Ravi Kumar emphasised that the renewable energy benefits both consumers and the State and urged people to make the most of government welfare schemes. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the coalition government was focusing on both welfare and infrastructure development in rural areas. As part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), power infrastructure works worth approximately ₹2.33 crore have been completed in Velamavaripalem, Pedda Jammalamadaka, and Kothuru villages.
The works include the installation of 752 new electricity poles and seven new transformers. He said that these improvements would significantly reduce power interruptions and low-voltage issues, ensuring better and more reliable electricity supply to consumers. After the programme, he conducted a grievance redressal session and received petitions from local residents. He directed officials to address the issues raised by the public at the earliest.
