Describing quantum biology as an emerging interdisciplinary field with potential applications in medicine, diagnostics, therapeutics and biomedical research, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS) Vice-Chancellor P. Chandrasekhar has said that there is a need for introducing diploma and certificate courses in this field. Addressing an online seminar on ‘Quantum Biology: From Molecules to Medicine’ at the university in Vijayawada on Thursday, Dr. Chandrasekhar said that the university would request the Medical Commission (NMC) to consider inclusion of the Quantum Biology-related education and training modules in medical colleges to promote research, innovation and future-ready medical education.
Delivering the inaugural address, P.S. Pradyumna, Secretary to the Chief Minister, highlighted the importance of quantum technologies in shaping the future of healthcare, research, and innovation. He explained the initiatives being undertaken by the government to promote quantum science within public health systems. Aarath Kalra, an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, delivered a lecture on the main topic of the seminar, ‘Quantum Biology: From Molecules to Medicine.’ He explained the latest advancements being made in quantum biology and their implications for medical and biological sciences.
Registrar T. Sai Sudheer, IIT Tirupati Director K.N. Satyanarayana, principals and faculty members from affiliated medical colleges participated in the online seminar.
