The rebel group, reportedly consisting of around twenty of the twenty-eight Lok Sabha members of the party, is seeking formal recognition from the Lok Sabha Speaker.
Sources indicate that this rebellion extends beyond the central level, with several state legislators also joining the breakaway faction. With Rajya Sabha members resigning and rebel leaders claiming they have the necessary two-third majority to avoid a merger, the leadership's control over the party appears significantly weakened as the crisis unfolds.
