'I Am Exactly Where I Am': Babul Supriyo Clarifies Position Amid Spar Between TMC, Rebels Published By, Last Updated: June 11, 2026, 11:43 IST Babul Supriyo said he will continue serving Bengal as an MP, backed action against corruption, and ruled out further interviews amid speculation over his political future. A file photo of Babul Supriyo (PTI) Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Babul Supriyo on Wednesday sought to put an end to speculation over his political position, declaring in a detailed Facebook post that he remains firmly where he is. Reacting to repeated questions from the media, Supriyo wrote, “Tired of Media Calls asking me which side I am… I am exactly where I am – with the Party & Leader I am!!" The singer-turned-politician said he would continue to discharge his responsibilities as a Rajya Sabha MP and work for the people of West Bengal. Referring to the political developments in the state, he said he respected the mandate given by voters and would work with the state government on development. “Respecting the overwhelming mandate the people of Bengal has given to BJP, I shall work with Hon’ble CM Suvendu Adhikari & use my MPLAD which is public money of Rs.5 crores per year… in consultation & mutual agreement with him & his Government," he wrote.
Supriyo explained that MPLAD funds are public money that go directly to the state government and district authorities and not to Members of Parliament. He added that he hoped to allocate at least 90 per cent of the funds for projects within Bengal while reserving 10 per cent for relief during natural disasters elsewhere in the country. He also said he would continue to seek financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s Fund for the treatment of people suffering from serious illnesses, especially children from Bengal. In the post, Supriyo took a swipe at certain political figures without naming anyone, saying he found it “pretty amusing" that several people appeared to have attained “Enlightenment" under a “huge Orange Peepul Tree" on or after May 4. He added that interviews given by such individuals, which he said could not hide the obvious “Balancing Acts", were “even more hilarious". At the same time, the TMC MP adopted a strong position against corruption. “Won’t defend anyone who resorted to all this dirty corruption & blatant stealing of Public money. They belong to the JAIL & should go to HELL," he wrote.
Supriyo further said that he hoped all those involved in corruption would be brought to justice. The latest statement comes days after Supriyo had publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee amid turmoil within the party. In a social media post earlier this month, he had declared that, irrespective of circumstances, he would stand by Banerjee. “Hence, today, no matter what, I WILL BE ON Didi’s SIDE and while I have left active Politics I shall do what I can do for Bengal in the Rajya Sabha," he had written. In that post, Supriyo had also said he was not afraid of investigations by central agencies because he had “not resorted to any wrong-doing". He had accused some leaders of betraying Banerjee despite having earlier sought her favour and support. In his latest Facebook post, Supriyo indicated that he did not intend to engage further with the media over the issue. “I guess I have answered ALL the questions I was asked – I shall not give any interviews or appear in any Tell-All Podcast whatsoever," he wrote. He concluded by saying that he would focus on “Peace – Solitude – Music", values he said were taught to him by his grandfather, while sending his “Love to all".
