The incident was captured on CCTV camera. A traffic police head constable was injured after being hit by a speeding car that was allegedly being driven on the wrong side of the road in Southeast Delhi’s Sarai Jullena area, police said. The incident took place on Tuesday morning while Head Constable Rahul Kumar was on duty managing traffic at the busy Sarai Jullena red light intersection. According to police, information about the incident came to light after New Friends Colony Police Station received a medico-legal case report from Fortis Escorts Hospital through a General Diary entry on Wednesday.

Police said the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the injured officer behind.
Kumar was later taken to Fortis Escorts Hospital for medical treatment. Based on the complaint and preliminary findings, a case has been registered at New Friends Colony Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which deals with dangerous driving. As part of the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from cameras installed at the intersection and nearby routes. The footage helped investigators identify the offending vehicle as a black Kia car. Efforts are currently underway to trace the vehicle and apprehend the driver. Police said multiple teams have been deployed and further investigation is in progress.
