According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), June 11 and June 12 are likely to bring rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, dust storms and a noticeable drop in temperatures across parts of North, East, Central and South India.Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and several northeastern states are among the regions expected to witness significant weather activity.Residents of Delhi may finally get some relief from the scorching heat. The IMD has issued an orange alert for rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lighting and gusty winds on Thursday for the national capital, followed by gradual fall in temperature by 3-5 degrees Celsius.For June 11, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky that is expected to turn generally cloudy by afternoon.
Light rain or very light rain is likely during the evening or night, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, dust storms and strong winds reaching 50-60 kmph, with gusts up to 70 kmph.Maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 40°C and 42°C, while minimum temperatures could stay between 27°C and 29°C.On June 12, weather conditions are expected to become more active. The national capital is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with two spells of light rain or very light rain. Thunderstorms, lightning and winds gusting up to 60 kmph are also expected.The biggest relief may come in the form of cooler temperatures. Maximum temperatures are likely to drop sharply to 34°C-36°C, several degrees below normal for this time of year.Both eastern and western parts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to witness scattered rainfall during the forecast period.On June 11, the state could experience thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 60-70 kmph and gusting up to 80 kmph. Dust storm activity is also likely across parts of the state.The IMD has additionally warned of isolated hailstorm activity in some areas, particularly in western Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected to continue on June 12 and June 13.The changing weather pattern could provide temporary relief from the heat that affected several districts earlier this week.Kerala remains one of the wettest regions in the country as monsoon activity continues.
