Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday. Vijay, who embarked on a three-day official visit to the national capital to take part in the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog on Thursday, departed from Chennai on a special flight on Wednesday morning.
Upon his arrival at the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner R. Jaya, and other officials welcomed him. Vijay also received a guard of honour. In the evening, the Chief Minister called on the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He also met Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan at his office and held discussions with him.
This was the first time Mr. Vijay met the President and the Vice-President after assuming office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Later, he met Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi at their residence in Janpath. He held discussions with them.
