No Drinking Water For Iran's Sirik Town After US Strikes Destroy Two Reservoirs Published By, Last Updated: June 10, 2026, 23:43 IST US strikes near Sirik in Iran destroyed two reservoirs, cutting safe water for 20,000 amid extreme heat, as Trump vows more attacks and Iran condemns targeting infrastructure. Following the attack, 20,000 residents of the region have lost access to safe drinking water, and with temperatures ranging between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius. (Image: AFP File) Amid rising temperature, the residents of southern port town of Sirik in Iran have lost access to drinking water due to US strikes on two reservoirs in the area, local media reported. According to AFP, the US had carried out strikes on the southern cities of Jask and Sirik and on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
This had damaged two reservoirs supplying the Bemani and Kouhestak areas of Sirik town. “Unfortunately, following this attack, 20,000 residents of the region have lost access to safe drinking water, and with temperatures ranging between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius, conditions have become extremely difficult and critical for local inhabitants," Iran’s state television quoted local water company officials as saying. Check for Live Updates “The destruction of these reservoirs has created a major problem for the region’s water supply network," it added. The Financial Times quoted Abdolhamid Hamzepour, director of the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company, saying the destruction of the reservoirs had created a big challenge for the local water supply network because groundwater reserves in the area were insufficient and could not provide an immediate replacement. However, the US military’s Central Command has said that its fighter jets have targeted Iranian air defence, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz with “precision munitions".
It called the strikes as a “proportional response" to recent Iranian attacks on US forces and merchant vessels. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump renewed his threat of military action against Iran. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump accused Iranian negotiators of dragging out peace talks and attempting to deceive the United States. “We’re going to be attacking them — attacking them very hard," Trump said. “We were really close to a deal, but they keep tapping us along, they keep playing us for suckers." “We hit them hard yesterday. We’re going to hit them again hard today," he added. In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said: “Critical infrastructures are the lifeblood of the people. Threats to target them, from transportation networks to the electricity and water industries, are not a show of strength but a sign of desperation in the face of a nation’s will."
