A Pakistan Air Force Mi-17 helicopter crashed in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), resulting in the deaths of all 21 soldiers on board. The Pakistan military attributed the crash to a technical fault. The incident occurred as the helicopter was transporting personnel to areas experiencing severe unrest. Massive protests are ongoing across PoJK, led by the Joint Awami Action Committee, with locals demonstrating against the Pakistan Army and General Asim Munir.
Protesters allege that the military has massacred between 27 and 70 people, and claim that numerous bodies are missing. In response to the escalating situation, additional troops and battalions have been deployed to hotspots including Neelum Valley, Kotli, Mirpur, and Dadyal. The administration has also imposed a communication and internet gag. The current unrest is described as a significant internal security crisis for Pakistan, with the military's response drawing comparisons to previous crackdowns on groups such as Tehreek-e-Labbaik and operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
