Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has blamed the Congress government in Karnataka for the rising prices of essential commodities. Fielding queries from reporters during a press conference convened in Mysuru on Wednesday to highlight the achievements of Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre over the last 12 years, Mr. Yaduveer pointed out that the people of Karnataka were feeling the pinch of price rise on account of the failure of Congress government in the State to take measures in the regard. Apart from essential items like milk, even the price of petrol in Karnataka is higher than the price in other States, Mr. Yaduveer said, apparently referring to the higher rate of tax imposed on fuel in Karnataka.
The Centre was, however, doing all it could to prevent inconvenience to the people, he said and claimed several measures had been taken to not only keep inflation under check, but also to control unnecessary usage of fuel in the light of the rising prices of crude oil following outbreak of war between U.S. and Iran. Yaduveer also criticised the “unnecessary” expenditure in Karnataka that was having an impact on taxation on goods in the State. The Mysuru MP said the Congress government in Karnataka had a tendency to blame the Centre for all its ills.
He also criticised the State government for its failure to respond to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on the Cauvery issue. “What is Karnataka’s response?” he questioned. To a question, Mr. Yaduveer defended the Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime by claiming that its introduction had replaced the multiple taxation system that was in vogue earlier. “Earlier, there was VAT, service tax and several other shadow taxes. Now, all goods and services have been brought under three slabs,” he said. RSS Yaduveer dismissed demand of Congress leaders on registration of RSS and said such statements were part of the Congress party’s propaganda.
The RSS is a disciplined organisation that has been working for the protection of India’s culture and values for more than 100 years and people are aware of the matter.
