Rajamahendravaram Member of Parliament D. Purandeswari on Wednesday performed bhumi puja for a multipurpose indoor stadium to be constructed at a cost of ₹13.76 crore under the ‘Khelo India’ programme. The project is part of the larger sports infrastructure being built in the city.
Recently, Arena-1 built at a cost of ₹28 crore in V.L. Puram area in Rajamahendravaram city is completed. The upcoming Area-2 will be built on the same campus of the indoor stadium.
It will have 13 courts, along with various infrastructure facilities. The facility will include courts for badminton, basketball and volleyball to nurture local talent. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Purandeswari announced that Arena-3 would be developed in the future.
Rajamahendravaram City MLA Adireddy Srinivas, Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Meena and other officials were present.
