Indian security agencies are set to bring back high-profile fugitive gangster Venkatesh Garg from Georgia. Garg, linked to the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang, was apprehended by international authorities following critical intelligence inputs from India and is scheduled to land in Delhi on June 11 (Thursday). According to intelligence sources, Garg faces more than 12 criminal cases—including multiple counts of murder, extortion, and armed robbery—across various states in northern India.
His name also surfaced as a key accused in the high-profile murder of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in Gurugram. Read Full Story Immediately after executing the Gurugram assassination, Garg fled India using a fraudulent passport and established a base in Georgia. From there, he joined forces with Kapil Sangwan, alias Nandu, who runs a gang. A native of Narayangarh in Haryana’s Ambala district, Garg had been evading law enforcement by operating from foreign soil.
The Haryana Police had previously placed a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on his head, and an Interpol Red Corner Notice was actively out against him. Investigating agencies revealed that Garg utilised social media platforms to run a sophisticated cross-border extortion racket. Operating safely from Eastern Europe, he actively recruited vulnerable youths and local shooters across Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan to execute targeted contract killings and extort businessmen back home.
His transnational run ended in November 2025, when Indian security agencies, working closely with local Georgian authorities and international police networks, successfully tracked and detained him. A specialised police team was dispatched to oversee his legal extradition. Officials stated that Garg’s return marks a significant victory in India’s ongoing global crackdown on fugitive gangsters operating syndicates from foreign hideouts. Ends
