Thirty-two suspected ganja consumers were detained during a raid at the residence of a repeat narcotics offender at Nanakramguda after they reportedly arrived at the location to purchase ganja on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). Police teams including personnel from Gachibolwi police and EAGLE Force visited the residence of 46-year-old Kalapathi Nithu Bai in Lodha Basti, Nanakramguda. The house was found locked. However, while officers were maintaining surveillance, 32 persons allegedly arrived at the location intending to purchase ganja and were taken into custody for questioning.
Nithu Bai has previously been booked in at least 18 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and was detained under the Preventive Detention Act in 2021. Police records show she and her family members were arrested in March 2024 in a major ganja trafficking case in which 22.6 kg of ganja, cash and other property were seized. In that case, Nithu Bai, her husband Kalapathi Munnu Singh alias Shankar Singh, 53, her relative Kalapathi Surekha, 38, and Kalapathi Mamatha, 50, were arrested for running a ganja distribution network from their residence at Nanakramguda.
Investigation revealed that the family sourced ganja in bulk for ₹8,000 per kg from Anguri Bai from Dhoolpet and sold it in small packets of 5 grams each for ₹450 to ₹500 each to customers across Hyderabad and Cyberabad. In August 2023, she, along with two associates, was arrested by Golconda police in a major ganja trafficking case in which a large quantity of cannabis and ₹40.3 lakh in cash were seized. During the investigation, authorities froze 16 bank accounts containing deposits of ₹1.53 crore and identified immovable properties worth about ₹2 crore allegedly acquired through drug proceeds.
The assets, together valued at nearly ₹4 crore, were attached under the NDPS Act. Investigators alleged that despite the action and a subsequent jail term, Nithu Bai resumed ganja peddling from her Nanakramguda residence and was again arrested by the police in March 2024 along with three family members and 13 consumers. Further investigation into the case is under way.
