The issues of drinking water scarcity, power safety concerns, and infrastructure gaps in government schools emerged as key priorities at the general body meeting of undivided Kurnool Zilla Parishad, here on Wednesday. During the meeting, Kurnool Zilla Parishad Chairperson Errabothula Papireddy urged the officials to work in coordination and prepare an integrated action plan to tackle recurring water shortages in vulnerable areas.
Reviewing the key works under various departments, Mr. Papireddy said drinking water facilities must be strengthened by ensuring that mother water plants and Rural Water Supply (RWS) plants function efficiently. He directed the officials to provide alternative arrangements before removing pipelines during the ongoing NH-167K road works. Referring to the persistent water stress in the western parts of the district, the ZP chairperson called for long-term measures focused on water conservation and storage.
Papireddy also raised concerns over sagging electricity lines, calling for immediate corrective measures to prevent accidents and loss of life. He asked the APSPDCL officials to ensure timely compensation to families affected by electrical mishaps and address the staff crunch. Meanwhile, Nandyal District Collector G. Rajakumari and Kurnool Collector A. Siri said that issues highlighted during the meeting would be resolved on priority.
They said adequate fertiliser stocks were available and that all eligible farmers would receive supplies without disruption.
