The Tamil Nadu government has launched the Singappen Special Task Force, a dedicated all-woman patrol unit aimed at ensuring the safety of women and children
The Tamil Nadu government has launched the Singappen Special Task Force, a dedicated all-woman patrol unit aimed at ensuring the safety of women and children in public spaces across the state. The initiative will deploy nearly three hundred units, utilizing a budget of over three hundred and fifty crore rupees.
Operating round-the-clock, the patrol vehicles will feature male drivers. While the ruling administration emphasizes transparency and fulfilling its election promise regarding law and order, critics argue the initiative resembles previous regimes' programs like the Amma Patrol. The launch comes amid intense political focus on recent crime rates in the state.
