‘Crush Protests, Eliminate Leaders’: Munir Fires ‘All Possible Action’ Diktat As PoK Unrest Rages On | Exclusive Reported By, Last Updated: June 10, 2026, 15:59 IST Asim Munir sought detailed explanations from the Rawalpindi and Mangla Corps Commanders over the uncontrollable protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir Rapid Read Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir (File image: ISPR/AP) Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir has issued fresh orders to “crush the protests" and “eliminate Awami Action Committee leaders" amid escalating unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, top security sources have told CNN-News18. Summoning the top military brass for an emergency meeting on the Kashmir crisis, Munir sought detailed explanations from the Rawalpindi and Mangla Corps Commanders over the uncontrollable protests in the region, questioning whether the turmoil stemmed from an intelligence failure or political-administrative negligence. According to a senior security source, the meeting focused on the Awami Action Committee’s ongoing protests in the valley. Munir directed top generals and intelligence chiefs to “fix the crisis in PoK as soon as possible by all means", with the forum deciding to “take all possible actions to end the continuous protests in the valley".
The high-level huddle resolved to initially give Pakistan’s politicians a front-line role in engaging with Kashmiri leaders. However, the meeting concluded that if protesters did not agree to a settlement through political leadership, the security establishment should “take full action against protestors and establish peace with force". The option of imposing curfew in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was also discussed, the top security source said. The meeting was attended by Munir; Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza; Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lieutenant General Amer Ahsan Nawaz; Corps Commander Mangla Lieutenant General Nauman Zakaria; DG ISI & NSA Lieutenant General Asim Malik; DG Military Intelligence Major General Wajid Aziz; and sector commanders deployed in the valley. The siege continues News18 reported how massive long marches and a region-wide shutter-down strike paralysed Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Monday, as the Awami Action Committee (AAC) led nationwide protests against what it called an “imposed siege" by the Pakistani military.
Protesters reported severe shortages of essentials and a 6-day-long communication blackout across Rawalakot and other parts of PoK, with many locals likening the situation to “Karbala" as they accused Army Chief General Asim Munir of escalating atrocities in the region. Human rights concerns deepened amid claims that security forces have registered fake FIRs and bogus cases against protesters. Over 450 people have reportedly been arrested, with multiple activists said to be missing during an unrelenting 6-day military crackdown. In Pallandari, Pakistan security forces allegedly opened fire on unarmed civilians, while tear gas was reportedly used to disperse demonstrators at Maqbool Butt Shaheed Chowk. Activists also accused security personnel of raiding homes and violating civilian dignity across the valley. The crackdown has triggered a global outcry, with the Kashmiri diaspora staging protests in multiple countries against what they describe as ongoing atrocities under Pakistan’s “hybrid regime". Some Kashmiri activists have drawn parallels between the current military actions in PoK and the events of 1971 in Bangladesh.
