The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has seized stocks of Mephentermine Sulphate injections that were allegedly being sold illegally to gym-goers in Warangal for misuse as an aid to bodybuilding. According to the DCA, officials of the Warangal Zone conducted a raid on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) at an unlicensed premises in Charbouli, Warangal, belonging to Mohammed Abdul Sohaib, following inputs provided by the Commissioner’s Task Force of the Warangal Police.
During the inspection, officials detected stocks of Mephentermine Sulphate Injection, marketed as Termin Injection, which were allegedly being stocked and supplied illegally to gym enthusiasts for performance enhancement. The DCA officers seized 38 vials of Termin Injection (Mephentermine Sulphate Injection IP 30 mg/ml) from the possession of Mohammed Abdul Sohaib. Mephentermine Sulphate Injection is a cardiac stimulant used in medical settings to treat low blood pressure, particularly during surgical procedures.
The drug increases the release of noradrenaline, improves cardiac output and rapidly raises blood pressure. “The medicine should only be administered under a doctor’s supervision and its dosage and duration must be determined by a medical practitioner,” the DCA said. They added that the drug is increasingly being misused by bodybuilders and athletes to enhance endurance and physical performance.
They warned that abuse of the injection can lead to serious adverse effects, including cardiovascular disorders, and may even prove fatal.
