Bidhannagar Mayor and TMC leader Sabyasachi Dutta was pelted with eggs and tomatoes while being escorted away from a police station following his arrest in an alleged extortion case. The incident occurred after Bidhannagar North Police arrested him over allegations that he demanded more than ₹1 crore from a businessman and issued threats. Police registered an FIR based on the complaint and subsequently took Dutta into custody.
Dutta has denied the allegations, calling the case "fabricated" and maintaining that he did not take any money. He is scheduled to be produced before the Bidhannagar Court, where further legal proceedings are expected.
