Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) said the State has made rapid strides in infrastructure development and in the implementation
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) said the State has made rapid strides in infrastructure development and in the implementation of welfare schemes during the past 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Majhi said Odisha has received an annual allocation of over ₹10,928 crore in the railway budget for the current financial year, while railway projects worth ₹90,000 crore are at various stages of implementation. “The State has achieved 100% railway electrification.
Modernisation of 59 stations is underway under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ scheme,” he said. Highlighting port-led development initiatives, the Chief Minister said a satellite port is being developed at Bahuda in Ganjam district with an investment of ₹21,500 crore under the Sagarmala and PM Gati Shakti schemes. “A mega shipbuilding cluster worth ₹22,700 crore is also being established at the Mahanadi mouth in Kendrapara, along with a captive jetty at Jatadhara,” he added, listing the Centre’s support to the State. “Today marks the completion of 12 years of continuous, transparent service, strong governance, and extensive welfare initiatives for the poor by the Central Government, along with two successful years of its third term.
Mr. Modi is set to create a new national record by becoming the longest-serving democratically elected head of government, completing 4,399 days in office,” Mr. Majhi said. He further noted that despite global challenges such as the Ukraine war and crises in West Asia, India remains the fastest-growing major economy, with a growth rate ranging between 7% and 9%. “There was a time when India was counted among the ‘Fragile Five’ economies. Today, under Mr. Modi’s leadership, the country has achieved a growth rate of 7.7% in the financial year 2025–26, despite global supply chain disruptions,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said the Modi government has brought transformative changes across development parameters by combining scale with speed in the implementation of welfare programmes.
