Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has admitted shortcomings within the Congress and the opposition bloc, saying the party failed to effectively discharge the role of the opposition despite being a major political force. Chavan said Congress alone could not play the opposition’s role and acknowledged that the opposition alliance should have been held together more effectively, in what appears to be an open admission of internal weaknesses within the bloc.
