The United States claims Iran shot down an AH-64 Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. Following the incident, two US pilots were safely rescued by a US Navy surface drone off the Oman coast. In response, US President Donald Trump vowed a strong retaliation and launched military strikes on Iranian soil near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran denied involvement in the Apache downing, stating it conducted no offensive air operations in the area over the past 24 hours.
Retaliating against the US strikes, Iran launched long-range ballistic missiles at US military assets across West Asia, including bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps claims to have targeted 21 US bases in the region. The broadcast also highlights the capabilities of the US sea drones used in the rescue mission. These unmanned underwater vehicles have a load capacity of 450 kilograms, a maximum range of 1,800 kilometres, and a top speed of 64 kilometres per hour, and are deployed for rescue, surveillance, and combat tasks.
