The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has strongly condemned the Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Vijay following the removal of three news channels from the state's cable network. Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized the administration, accusing the Chief Minister of attempting to silence media outlets that highlight governance failures, including power cuts, sexual violence, and deteriorating law and order.
While the opposition termed the blackout an attack on press freedom, the state government's fact-checking unit attributed the broadcast disruption to a technical error. Journalist Pramod Madhav reported that the opposition continues to question why the technical glitch affected only these specific channels.
