(Source: PTI) As questions around the investigation into the deadly Air India 171 crash on June 12, 2025, continue to swirl, the daughter of former Gujarat CM and one of the victims, Vijay Rupani, Radhika Mishra, has alleged Air India of asking the kin of victims to “sign full and final settlement documents before the conclusion of the official investigation. Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was among the 260 people who were killed in the Air India crash. His daughter has now alleged that the airline wants to get the full and final settlement documents signed before the facts around the crash have been fully established, according to The Times Of India.

We deserve more than compensation… We deserve answers… above all, we deserve closure." Air India Denies Charges According to TOI, in response to the mail, Air India said that the families have no deadline or pressure to accept the offer within a set timeframe. “There is absolutely no deadline or pressure on any family or individual to accept our offer within a set timeframe… Families are free to wait until the investigation report has been released, as some have chosen to do… investigation is (being) independently conducted by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, and therefore AI is not aware of when the report will be released.
In light of the numerous requests we received, and conscious of our own obligations, we felt it would not be fair to families who wish to proceed with final compensation if we were to put the process on hold indefinitely," said Air India. Also Read: Air India Crash: Ready To Provide Expertise And Support If Required, Says UK AAIB As per The Times Of India, Mishra further asked why “there is an effort to obtain final releases before the truth is known" and requested Tata Sons and AI to “clarify whether families can receive support without sacrificing future legal rights; reconsider the use of broad release and indemnity provisions before completion of all investigations; ensure no family feels pressured to choose between immediate financial support and the pursuit of truth." Rupani was on board Air India flight AI 171 from Ahmedabad, travelling to meet his daughter, when the Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed seconds after takeoff. The aircraft struck student hostels at B J Medical College, killing 241 of the 242 people on board, along with 19 people on the ground.
