Iran has launched a retaliatory strike against a United States military base in Jordan using long-range precision ballistic missiles. According to Iranian media citing military sources, the Revolutionary Guard Corps deployed solid-fuel Kheibar Shakan missiles to target shelters housing F-35 fighter jets at the Al-Asrak base. Iran stated that it is fully prepared to deliver heavier responses if the United States escalates the conflict further, holding the US responsible for any consequences.
Meanwhile, the US declared its current operation complete but remains ready to retaliate in the event of further escalation. The recent spike in tensions stems from the downing of a US Apache helicopter, which Washington blames on Iran, though Tehran denies any involvement. Additionally, concerns are rising over a potential US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which could impact global oil and gas prices and influence domestic politics in Washington ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
