According to a report in The Times, a newspaper based in the United Kingdom, Iran has begun handing out iodine tablets to people living in communities close to its nuclear facilities; the report cited an official from the Ministry of Health, who stated — Trump can no longer be trusted. The official went on to warn — He may go through with this crime. The official went on to note that, in the course of every war, Iran has made efforts to distribute the tablets within a radius of 2 to 3 kilometers around nuclear facilities. Iodine tablets serve the purpose of shielding the thyroid gland against the harmful effects of radiation.
An Iranian political journalist stated that during a recent briefing, officials were informed that serious consideration is being given to a US nuclear strike on the heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain site, beneath which a large complex of tunnels and facilities is believed to exist. The Young Journalists Club news agency in Iran also reported that health authorities have been distributing iodine tablets to residents of the southern city of Bushehr, home to the country’s only operational nuclear power plant. In the meantime, the Rewards for Justice program run by the US State Department made an announcement — it is offering a reward of as much as $20 million, along with the possibility of relocation, in exchange for information concerning Iran's nuclear program, which includes its facilities, its equipment and the personnel connected with it.
Only a few days earlier, US President Donald Trump issued a warning that Washington had the capability to hit whatever suspected nuclear facilities remained in Iran within a mere 10 minutes, and he singled out Pickaxe Mountain by name — a site believed to be an underground nuclear location. Situated along Iran’s Gulf coast, Bushehr is home to the country’s sole nuclear power plant currently in operation, which means that preparing for radiological emergencies is a matter of particular concern for the authorities in the local area.
