Hyderabad is facing a severe drinking water shortage and receiving contaminated water amid depleting groundwater levels. Residents in areas like Rasulpura receive water only once every three to five days. Locals report that the supplied water is mixed with drainage, forcing them to purchase expensive mineral water for daily consumption. Despite multiple complaints to authorities, the situation remains unresolved.
The government claims adequate water tankers are being deployed, but residents deny receiving them. A political representative criticized the current state government and the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ministry for the collapsing civic infrastructure. The representative highlighted that during the previous regime, the city did not face such water crises, and recalled a 2009 incident in Bulakpur where contaminated water claimed fourteen lives.
Residents are demanding immediate intervention to ensure a regular supply of clean drinking water as they struggle with health issues and financial burdens caused by the ongoing crisis.
