MALAPPURAM Kondotty is set to tap into the FIFA World Cup fever with a fan engagement initiative modelled on cricket fan parks. Sports Minister O.J. Janeesh inaugurated the ‘MLA Box’ here on Tuesday, designed to bring fans together for live screenings and shared celebrations. Set up at the Moyinkutty Vaidyar Memorial at Kondotty, and led by T.P. Ashrafali, MLA, the initiative draws inspiration from IPL fan parks to create an immersive viewing space for football fans.
All World Cup matches will be screened live on a large screen at the venue, which will serve as a central hub for supporters throughout the tournament. Organisers have also planned interactive events, including “watch with celebrity” sessions and football quizzes. Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Ashrafali said Kondotty’s strong football culture inspired the project.
“We have seen the success of fan parks in cricket. The MLA Box follows a similar model to give fans a shared viewing experience and further strengthen football enthusiasm in Kondotty,” he said.
Cherukavu grama panchayat president Jaseena Alungal, international footballer Anas Edathodika, Kondotty block panchayat standing committee chairman Kabir Muthupuramb, District Congress Committee secretary P.A. Abdul Ali, and MSF national president Ahmed Saju attended the event.
