Persistent irregular garbage collection and the daily delay in tipper arrivals have worsened the city’s black spot problem, now compounded by the onset of the monsoon, leaving residents in misery. Visibly, black spots that were cleared earlier are reappearing, drawing public anger.
The crux of the issue, however, lies in the delay in finalising garbage collection tenders for 13 years. This is has created a ripple effect, leading
to shortage of tippers and staff, irregular availability of personnel, delays in salary payments, and vehicle breakdowns, resulting in the collapse of the city’s garbage collection system.
