Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has taken exception to a statement made by Major Ravi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the former Chief Minister had attended the funeral of the late Innocent, actor and MP of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), accompanied by a convoy of 55 vehicles and 560 police personnel.
The office of the Leader of the Opposition issued a statement in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday that the statement made by Major Ravi was factually incorrect and that necessary legal action would be initiated against those responsible for disseminating such lies and false content through social media platforms. Fabricated videos The statement said that it had been noticed that some fabricated videos in support of the claims made by Major Ravi had been generated and shared through some social media profiles.
It said that the actual visuals of Mr. Vijayan arriving to pay respects to Innocent had already appeared on various media channels. Anyone examining these visuals could easily make out that the allegations raised by Major Ravi were baseless and that the visuals circulating on social media in support of these allegations were fabricated.
The statement said that it was deplorable that a person like Major Ravi had stooped to the level of disseminating false content on social media.
