CID Searches Mamata Banerjee's Kalighat Residence In Forged Signature Case
A nine-member Criminal Investigation Department team entered the Kalighat residence of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to search the Trinamool Congress party office
A nine-member Criminal Investigation Department team entered the Kalighat residence of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to search the Trinamool Congress party office located inside the premises. The search is part of an ongoing probe into a forged signature case involving a letter, meeting resolution, and an annexed register signed by Abhishek Banerjee and submitted to the Assembly Speaker.
Initially, a team of around thirty CID officials was denied entry by TMC leaders because both Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee were in New Delhi. Following a prolonged discussion, the nine-member team, which included two videographers, was permitted to enter the party office at 30B Harish Chatterjee Street. A large contingent of police personnel and central forces was deployed outside the residence during the operation.
The CID had previously served multiple notices to Abhishek Banerjee regarding the case, but he did not appear before the agency. The search operation took place while both leaders remained in the national capital.
