(AFP file photo) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with Kuwait’s Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, and reaffirmed India’s strong support for Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amid the ongoing war in West Asia. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed the evolving security situation in the region and exchanged views on recent developments.
During the conversation, PM Modi expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and strongly condemned attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty. “Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and reaffirmed India’s strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," the statement said. He reiterated India’s call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy, stressing the need for an early restoration of peace and stability in West Asia. The call came amid heightened regional uncertainty, with US President Donald Trump stating that negotiations with Iran were in their final stages and that a deal could be reached within days. Trump also said restrictions linked to the Strait of Hormuz would remain in place until a final agreement is secured with Tehran, while expressing optimism about the progress of ongoing talks.
