Husband Takes Parents On Honeymoon. Now His Wife Wants Divorce Published By, Last Updated: June 09, 2026, 14:25 IST Newlywed couple from Meerut and Delhi clash after husband brings parents and siblings on honeymoon. Uttar Pradesh Couple in Counselling After Husband Takes Family on Honeymoon What was supposed to be a memorable start to married life has instead become the source of a serious marital dispute for a newlywed couple from Uttar Pradesh. The situation has drawn comparisons with the 1999 Bollywood film Hum Saath Saath Hain, where a newly married couple happily travel on honeymoon accompanied by family members. However, unlike the film, the real-life bride was reportedly unhappy when her husband allegedly brought his parents, brother and sister along on their honeymoon, an India Today news report stated. The disagreement has now escalated to the point where the couple is undergoing counselling, with divorce becoming a possibility. According to details shared at a family counselling centre, the woman complained that what she expected to be a private honeymoon turned into a family outing.
Soon after their wedding, the husband allegedly took his parents and siblings along on the trip. The wife told counsellors that a honeymoon is meant to give a newly married couple time to understand one another and build a stronger relationship. Instead, she said the constant presence of family members prevented them from spending quality time together. What began as disappointment gradually developed into repeated arguments between the couple. As tensions increased, the matter eventually reached the counselling centre. Husband sees no problem The husband has defended his decision and insists that he did nothing wrong. According to counsellors, he explained that he wanted his family members to enjoy the trip and believed there was nothing inappropriate about including them in the honeymoon. He reportedly feels his intentions were positive and family-oriented. The disagreement highlights a significant difference in expectations between the couple. While the wife believes the honeymoon represented a missed opportunity to begin their married life together, the husband maintains that including his family was a natural decision and should not have caused conflict.
Counselling fails to resolve dispute The couple has already attended three counselling sessions, but the differences between them remain unresolved. Counsellors recently conducted another round of discussions and have provided additional time for both sides to think about their future. Despite repeated efforts to find common ground, no breakthrough has been achieved. The counselling centre continues to make attempts to save the marriage, but the situation remains uncertain. If neither side changes its position, the dispute could eventually move towards divorce proceedings. Marriage arranged through matrimonial website The case involves a woman from the Ramraj area of Meerut district and a man from Delhi’s Patel Nagar. The woman is a graduate, while the man studied hospitality management in Singapore. Their marriage was arranged through a matrimonial website and initially appeared to begin on a positive note. However, what was expected to be the first special chapter of their married life has instead become the reason their relationship is under strain. For now, counsellors are making one final effort to help the couple resolve their differences and prevent the marriage from ending.
