Karnataka police have arrested a forty-eight-year-old man from Udupi for allegedly issuing death threats to the Karnataka Home Minister on social media. The accused has been booked under the SC, ST Atrocities Act and appropriate BNS sections for criminal intimidation and making derogatory remarks on Facebook. The arrest follows claims by the Karnataka Home Minister that he was receiving death threats from individuals associated with the RSS.
The allegations sparked a political row, with the BJP challenging the state government to take strict action against the culprits. During an interview, the Karnataka Home Minister stated that he would take legal action against the perpetrators and emphasized his demand for accountability from the RSS, which he referred to as the world's largest NGO. Authorities are currently investigating whether the arrested individual has any links to the RSS.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of public representatives and the general public in the state.
