BRS leader K Kavitha has launched a sharp attack on the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, accusing it of selectively enforcing anti-encroachment laws while ignoring alleged violations by influential individuals and major real estate interests. Targeting Hydra, Telangana's anti-encroachment task force, Kavitha claimed that public land worth nearly βΉ1,000 crore has been encroached upon, alleging that the agency is focusing on smaller landowners while failing to act against powerful entities accused of occupying lake and government lands.
The controversy has also drawn attention to allegations involving land linked to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. While Kavitha has called for a probe, those associated with the property deny any wrongdoing and maintain that all legal and revenue requirements have been complied with. With opposition parties increasingly questioning Hydra's functioning, the debate has expanded beyond encroachments to allegations of selective enforcement, political targeting and accountability.
