(Source: PTI) Karnataka’s Cabinet continues to be gripped by discontent among MLAs unhappy with the portfolio allocations, as Chief Minister DK Shivakumar remains engaged in firefighting efforts just days after taking office. The chief minister managed to weather the Ramalinga Reddy storm last week after the senior leader withdrew his resignation over the Bengaluru Development portfolio allocation, but fresh political turbulence now appears to be on the horizon. As the controversy over the Bengaluru Development portfolio continues, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has yet to assume charge of the department allotted to him. Minister Approaches Congress With Complaint According to sources, the dissatisfied minister has approached the Congress high command seeking a full-fledged portfolio.
Sources said Krishna Byre Gowda left for New Delhi late Monday night, accompanied by MLA Rizwan Arshad. He is expected to meet Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge or K.C. Venugopal on Tuesday. Alternatively, he is expected to seek the Revenue Department. Krishna Byre Gowda Refuses To Take Charge Krishna Byre Gowda has not taken charge of the Bengaluru Development Department even four days after the portfolio allocation. His dissatisfaction stems from the exclusion of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) from the department assigned to him. He has questioned whether he should handle Bengaluru affairs with only the five city corporations under his charge and has conveyed his concerns to the party leadership. Before leaving for Delhi, Krishna Byre Gowda met Chief Minister DK Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha and explained why he had not assumed charge.
