Twenty-four Indian crew members have been successfully rescued after a US missile struck and disabled the Iran-bound oil tanker MV Marivic in the Gulf of Oman. The vessel caught fire after a US F/A-18 Super Hornet fired at its engine and steering system because warnings to stop were ignored.
A coordinated rescue operation involving Indian and Omani authorities, using Omani helicopters, successfully evacuated all the crew members. The incident comes amid an ongoing US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, where any vessels heading to or from Iranian ports face potential attacks. All twenty-four Indian sailors are reported safe, though regional maritime tensions and safety concerns for merchant vessels persist.
