Central University of Karnataka (CUK) Vice-Chancellor Battu Satyanarayana flagged off a 43-member delegation from Karnataka on Saturday for a week-long educational and cultural visit to Madhya Pradesh under the Yuva Sangam Phase VII programme. The delegation comprises 40 students from various districts of Karnataka and three faculty members. The visit, scheduled from October 10 to 17, is being coordinated by CUK under the Ministry of Education’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative. The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal, is the host institution. The programme aims to promote cultural exchange, national integration and mutual understanding between Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh by familiarising students with the host State’s cultural heritage, educational institutions and technological advancements.

The itinerary includes visits to Upper Lake, the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal on October 11. On October 12, the delegation will visit the Sanchi Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Raj Bhavan in Bhopal. The students will explore Bhopal’s Old City, the Tribal Museum, the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on October 13. The following day, they will visit the Bhojeshwar Temple and the Bhimbetka Rock Shelters. On October 15, the delegation will visit the Rajwada Palace and other historical sites in Indore.

A special event of the programme will be a Gond art workshop conducted by Padma awardee Durga Bai Vyam. The visit will conclude with a valedictory ceremony and cultural programme at SPA Bhopal on October 16, and the delegation will return to Karnataka on October 17. The delegation is accompanied by M. Siva, nodal officer for CUK’s Yuva Sangam Phase VII, and programme coordinators Krishna Shekar Sharma and Sanjana Kaushik. As part of the reciprocal exchange under the Yuva Sangam Phase VII, CUK recently hosted a 51-member delegation from Madhya Pradesh from September 28 to October 3.

The visiting delegation toured Bengaluru, Bidar and Kalaburagi to explore Karnataka’s cultural heritage, educational institutions, scientific advancements and developmental initiatives. Yuva Sangam seeks to strengthen connections among young people from different States by providing opportunities to experience their traditions, institutions and developmental achievements.
