Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) has lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission (NHRC), seeking immediate intervention over the alleged unlawful detention, police harassment, and human rights violations faced by Tatineni Ram Babu, a 59-year-old resident of Veterinary Colony in Vijayawada. In his representation to the NHRC Chairperson, Mr. Nani alleged that Mr. Ram Babu, a chronic cardiac patient recovering from recent eye surgery, has been subjected to severe procedural harassment by officials of Patamata Police Station and the City Task Force in connection with Crime No. 225/2026.
According to the complaint, Mr. Ram Babu was falsely implicated in the case due to political vendetta. Mr. Kesineni further alleged that on June 3, a day before the FIR was formally registered, a City Task Force sub-inspector allegedly entered Mr. Ram Babu’s residence without authorisation and intimidated his elderly mother while searching for him.
The complaint also states that Mr. Ram Babu voluntarily appeared before Patamata Police on June 5 after being contacted by officials, but was allegedly detained at
the police station for nearly 11 hours despite his fragile health condition. Nani contended that the prolonged detention of a post-surgery patient amounted to cruel treatment.
