CMRS completes safety inspection of Namma Metro’s elevated Pink Line
The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), Southern Circle, V. Venkatasubramanian, has completed a three-day statutory safety inspection of Namma Metro’s 7.5-km elevated Pink Line
The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), Southern Circle, V. Venkatasubramanian, has completed a three-day statutory safety inspection of Namma Metro’s 7.5-km elevated Pink Line corridor between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere. The inspection was conducted from Tuesday to Thursday and covered the corridor’s six stations — Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere.
On Tuesday, Mr. Venkatasubramanian and his team inspected the mainline and associated infrastructure using a motor trolley. The inspection continued on Wednesday with checks at the Kothanur Depot, along with train trials and testing on the mainline. On the final day, Thursday, the team inspected the Operations Control Centre (OCC) at Baiyappanahalli, according to BMRCL officials.
“The CMRS inspection is a key statutory requirement before the corridor can be opened for passenger services. The authorisation to open the section will be issued subject to BMRCL complying with the observations and conditions stipulated during the inspection,” an official added. BMRCL had earlier secured the speed certificate from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) in August 2026.
This was followed by the Railway Board’s provisional sanction for the rolling stock and certification from the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for the signalling system. Once opened, the elevated Pink Line corridor will increase Namma Metro’s operational network from the existing 96.10 km to 103.60 km.
