Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath Gupta said that Kurnool district has witnessed significant development over the past two years. He was speaking at an event organised by the Kurnool City Telaga Kapu Balija Seva Sangham at Kapu Bhavan in the B-Camp area of Kurnool city on Monday (June 8, 2026), and presented awards to individuals who had excelled in various fields. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bharath stated that investments have been attracted to Orvakal in Kurnool district during this two-year period.
He added that the Reliance project, which was proposed with an estimated initial investment of ₹2,500 crore, is now expected to exceed ₹6,000 crore, creating more employment opportunities. He alleged that the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government failed to lay a water supply line to Orvakal during its five-year tenure, while the NDA government has initiated the laying of a pipeline within two years of coming to power.
He also alleged that the previous government had created hurdles for the Jairaj Ispat steel company which made the latter incur losses amounting to crores of rupees. “After our government came, Jairaj Ispat has come forward to expand its operations with an investment of ₹6,000 crore, placing their trust in the administration,” he said. The Minister said they are working towards the goal of creating 20 lakh jobs in the State with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh constantly reviewing the progress.
He urged the youth to make the best use of job fairs and mentioned that discussions are under way with engineering colleges to provide skill training to young people.
