A political development is underway within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as a rebel faction claims to have the support of 20 MPs, aiming to bypass the anti-defection law which requires a minimum of 19 members. The ruling camp has countered this claim, asserting that the rebels only have the support of 13 MPs.
Some rebel leaders have held meetings with senior BJP leaders and the West Bengal Chief Minister in New Delhi. Meanwhile, a Rajya Sabha member has resigned from his seat and the party to support the BJP. With hectic parleys ongoing on both sides, the political situation continues to develop as the rebels explore options to align with the NDA.
