A court has rejected a plea by a former Bengal minister seeking relief from appearance before the police in a case related to a sports event controversy. Following the court order, police teams reached the residence of the former minister to conduct an ongoing probe. While the former minister is reported to be missing, his brother was arrested by the police.
The brother faces charges involving allegations of molestation, criminal intimidation, and illegal possession of arms, and his residence was also raided. The ongoing probe was initiated after a complaint was filed by the event organiser regarding a major football event held in Kolkata. Bidhannagar police have summoned the former minister for a second time.
