Southwest monsoon enters Telangana on June 8, set to cover remaining parts in 2-3 days

The exhausting summer has come to an end in Telangana as India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad Centre has announced that southwest monsoon has entered Telangana through Jogulamba Gadwal districts on Monday (June 8, 2026). According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for the monsoon to advance further across the remaining parts of Telangana and neighbouring States over the next two to three days.
The southwest monsoon arrived in Kerala on June 4. Usually, the monsoon gradually advances across the southern peninsula, and takes around five days to move through neighbouring Andhra Pradesh into Telangana. The IMD Scientists have earlier forecast the rain-bearing system to enter Telangana around June 8 or 9.
Meanwhile, for Tuesday (June 9, 2026), the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubaba, Warangal, Hanumakonda and Nagarkurnool districts. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied
with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur in all 33 districts of Telangana.
