Barghouti tells host Steve Clemons that Israel’s tools have been three-fold: military violence, economic strangulation, and constant encroachment on their personal homes and lands. If Western nations imposed strict sanctions on Israel as they did with the apartheid regime of South Africa in the 1980s, “eventually the system of settler colonialism will fall down,” says Barghouti, acknowledging that it would take a new generation of leaders for something like that to happen.
