Bangladesh home minister Salahuddin Ahmed Islamist hardliner Jamaatâs ally NCP on Sunday termed as âdeeply objectionable and humiliatingâ Bangladesh home minister Salahuddin Ahmedâs statement that it was incorrect to label deaths resulting from border crimes or illegal trespass as âborder killingsâ.This statement, even though there has been hostilities along the border, by the minister and BNP standing committee member is a matter of âprofound national shameâ, NCP convener and oppositionâs chief whip in Parliament Nahid Islam said, a day ahead of the director general-level talks between Border Guard Bangladesh and Border Security Force in New DelhiHe said Salahuddin has neither withdrawn nor clarified his remarks.
Moreover, no condemnation or disapproval has come from govt regarding such statements.NCP targeted the minister over his June 2 remarks that âif a foreign force enters our border
or the zero line and carries out a killing, that can be termed a border killing. But if someone is involved in a crime within our territory or
theirs, or illegally trespasses into another country, how their border force addresses it depends on their domestic laws. It would not be correct to call that a border killing.â
