(IMAGE: PTI) The Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate Maharashtra launched a major youth skilling and employability initiative under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) this week, aimed at connecting NCC cadets and e cadets with industry opportunities, future-ready skills and meaningful career pathways. Running under the theme “From Uniform to Profession", the programme seeks to create strategic pathways that connect the leadership, discipline and nation-building values developed through the NCC with corporate exposure, skill development, entrepreneurship and employment. The initiative leverages the extensive footprint of NCC Maharashtra, which currently engages approximately 1.5 lakh cadets across more than 2,000 educational institutions covering all 36 districts of the state. By providing a platform that links leadership development with career readiness and economic participation, the programme aligns with the national vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the commitment of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to creating expanded professional opportunities for Maharashtra’s youth.
As part of the first phase of the initiative, dedicated placement camps are being organised in partnership with Lemon Tree Hotels to provide corporate internship opportunities for eligible graduate youth, including NCC Senior Division and Senior Wing cadets as well as e cadets. A total of 150 internship positions will be offered through the pilot placement camps across two major cities. The first camp will be held on June 15, 2026, in Pune, offering 50 positions, followed by a second camp on June 16, 2026, in Mumbai, which will offer 100 positions. The internships are designed to provide comprehensive workplace exposure across multiple professional domains, including human resources, sales and marketing, front office operations, finance, food and beverage services, and purchase and stores. Beyond gaining practical professional experience and industry-relevant skills, selected candidates will receive monthly stipends under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme guidelines, along with joining incentives, structured mentoring and career-readiness opportunities. Recognising the importance of women’s participation, special facilitation measures are also being pursued in coordination with the Government of Maharashtra to encourage wider participation among girl cadets.
