Satwik-Chirag’s last title came at the Thailand Open in 2024. This was their ninth career BWF World Tour crown.
The win against the Indonesians was significant for the world No. 4 duo, who became the first Indians to win the doubles title at the Singapore Open. Satwik and Chirag hadn’t won a title since the 2024 Thailand Open. In the intervening period, they reached four finals but ended up as runners-up each time before ending the drought with their win in Singapore. The Indian pair went into the title clash with a 1-2 head-to-head record against the Indonesians, having suffered their most recent loss at the hands of the duo in the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open earlier this year. After conceding the opening game, Satwik and Chirag stepped up the intensity, taking control of the extended rallies and wresting momentum away from the world No. 3 Indonesian pair to complete a stirring comeback.
The win against the Indonesian duo capped a brilliant week for the Indian pair, who had earlier pulled off a major upset by beating reigning world champions and top seeds Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae of South Korea in the semifinals. As the winning point was sealed, Chirag lay flat on the court in celebration. Satwik followed it up with a baby-themed celebration, while an ecstatic Chirag let out a roar before leaping onto his partner. The duo later danced on court as they savoured a long-awaited return to the top step of the podium. The gruelling final saw the Indians recover from a slow start to go on to impose themselves on their opponents.
