US President Donald Trump has met Ireland's leaders during a visit in which he said he would "love" to see a united Ireland and discussed the war with Iran. The visit drew protests in Dublin and in the west, where Trump travelled to his golf resort for the Irish Open.
Polls suggest Trump is deeply unpopular in Ireland, and protesters marched through central Dublin to parliament, objecting to his visit and, in some cases, to Irish leaders meeting him given Ireland's stance on Palestine.
By afternoon, Trump was in Doonbeg, where his resort brings welcome business, and he is popular. Despite divided opinion, few in Ireland dispute the importance of the US relationship. Al Jazeera's Milena Veselinovic reports from Dublin.
