Imran Khan, Wife Denied Medical Treatment And Family Visits In Jail, Claims His Party Published By, Last Updated: June 06, 2026, 21:21 IST PTI leader Shafi Jan alleges Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are denied legal rights, family visits and proper medical care in jail, urges treatment at Shifa International Hospital PTI leader Shafi Jan alleges Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are denied legal rights, family visits and proper medical care in jail. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accused the government of denying former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, their constitutional and legal rights while they remain incarcerated, alleging that the couple is also being deprived of adequate medical care. Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar on Friday, PTI leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister Shafi Jan claimed that Khan and his wife have been prevented from meeting relatives, party leaders and supporters despite repeated requests.
Khan, the founder of PTI, has been lodged in prison since August 2023 in connection with multiple cases, while Bushra Bibi has been in custody since 2024 after initially being placed under house arrest. Jan alleged that Khan has been suffering from an eye-related medical condition for the past four months and that his vision has not fully recovered. He claimed the former prime minister has not been allowed access to proper medical treatment and specialist care. The PTI leader further alleged that Khan and Bushra Bibi were taken to a hospital late on Thursday night for medical treatment, a move he said violated established jail procedures. According to Jan, the medical examination lasted for around three hours, but neither the family nor the party was provided with any official medical report detailing the couple’s condition or treatment.
The press conference was organised by the Insaf Doctors Forum, a body representing healthcare professionals affiliated with PTI. Demanding greater transparency, Jan called on authorities to allow Khan and Bushra Bibi access to their personal physicians and urged the government to transfer them to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital for a comprehensive medical evaluation. The PTI leader also referred to court orders regarding meetings with Khan, alleging that continued restrictions on access to the former premier amounted to a violation of judicial directives and could potentially constitute contempt of court. The allegations come days after a Pakistani court rejected Khan’s request for treatment at a private hospital and instead ordered the formation of a new medical board to assess his health condition. The government has not yet publicly responded to the latest allegations made by PTI regarding the couple’s healthcare and prison conditions.
